Justin Otto doesn’t just play the Blues, he lives it. Growing up in the Panhandle of Florida, a place that is as he describes it “halfway between the swamp and the beach,” made for an interesting upbringing and his own brand of “Swamp Country Blues. “There’s not much to do there but hunt & fish or drink & play music, so I grew up doing a lot of all of ‘em,” he jokes. “I’ve always been around music in some form or fashion, my dad was a drummer when he was growing up so I guess I kind of came by it naturally. I got into Elvis a lot when I was really young, like 2 years old and I started doing little performances around and entertaining people and I guess it just kinda progressed”.
After playing in a variety of bands, Justin decided to pursue a solo career in 2006 and began playing every bar, honky-tonk and juke-joint that he could find. Sharing stages across the Gulf Coast with such touring acts as Wayne Hancock, Husky Burnette, Dirty Bourbon River Show, Jason and the Punknecks, Smokestack and the Foothill Fury and many more, he continues to play all over the Southeast and is currently planning his first US tour.
Having self-released his first solo effort “The $7 EP” in 2011, Justin is currently in production of his first full length album, due to be released in 2012.
